The following action alerts have expired, but show the breadth of our involvement in urging our State officials to act in their communities, working toward a world without breast cancer.

 

Alabama: Save women's lives in Alabama!

The state considered cutting funding critical to saving women's lives in Alabama.

The Breast and Cervical Early Detection Program provides life-saving early detection services to Alabama's poor and disadvantaged women. But, the state budget language proposed slashing the budget for the program. Without this program, thousands of women would go without access to vital early detection services and necessary treatment.

 
 

Colorado – Support Cancer Chemotherapy Equality!

 Join breast cancer advocates in support of House Bill 10-1202, which would require health insurance plans to provide coverage for orally administered cancer drugs, just as they do for intravenously administered chemotherapy.  Women deserve all their options in the fight against cancer!

Write your lawmakers today and tell them to support House Bill 10-1202.

 
 

Georgia: Support a Healthy Georgia!

The state considered a bill to increase the state cigarette tax by $1.00. This modest increase to the cigarette tax will help reduce the number of new smokers while raising revenue that could fund vital early detection and treatment programs for breast and cervical cancer.

 
 

Illinois: Support the Reducing Breast Cancer Disparities Act!

Right now, surviving breast cancer in Illinois can depend on where you live, whether you have insurance, or how much money you make. We need to correct this wrong, all Illinois women deserve access to quality health care that could save their lives.

The state legislature took a big step to correct this inequity by passing the Reducing Breast Cancer Disparities Act – a bill to eliminate co-pays and deductibles for mammograms, institute a patient navigation system for women seeking treatment, and improve standards for mammography.

 
 

Indiana: Help Close the Gap in Indiana.

Surviving breast cancer shouldn't depend on where you live, whether you have insurance or how much money you make – all Indiana women deserve access to quality health care that could save their lives. Unfortunately, in Indiana surviving breast cancer can depend on where you are diagnosed.

Senate Bill 554 will correct this problem and ensure all eligible women can get the care they deserve.
 
 

Minnesota: Save women's lives in Minnesota!

The state considered slashing funding critical to saving women's lives in Minnesota.

The Sage Program at the Minnesota Department of Health provides life-saving early detection services to Minnesota's poor and disadvantaged women. But, under a proposed state health budget, the Department of Health may not have sufficient funding for this vital program. Without the Sage Program, thousands of women would go without access to vital early detection services and necessary treatment.

 
 

New Hampshire: Save women's lives in New Hampshire!

The state considered slashing funding critical to saving women's lives in New Hampshire.

The New Hampshire Cancer Plan provides life-saving early detection services to New Hampshire women. The Senate considered a proposal to cut funding for this vital program. Without the New Hampshire Cancer Plan, thousands of women would go without access to vital early detection services and necessary treatment.

 
 

New York: Save women’s lives in New York

The state considered slashing funding critical to saving women's lives in New York.

The Cancer Services Program provides breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer screening to under and uninsured patients. But, under the state budget funding for this vital program had the potential to be cut by over $8 million.
 
 

Ohio: Good News in the Fight against Breast Cancer!

Earlier this year, Governor Ted Strickland made a strong commitment to fighting breast cancer, announcing a $5 million biennial appropriation to the Ohio Breast and Cervical Cancer Project – which provides critical early detection and treatment services to Ohio women.
 
 

Oregon: Help Save Lives in Oregon!

The Senate Health Care and Veteran's Affairs Committee considered two bills that would help address screening and treatment gaps in the state, by providing additional funding for the Oregon Breast and Cervical Cancer Program and expanding treatment coverage for low-income and underserved women.

The joint Ways and Means Committee considered two bills to help address screening and treatment gaps in the state, by providing additional funding for the Oregon Breast and Cervical Cancer Program and expanding treatment coverage for low-income and underserved women.

 
 

South Carolina: Save women's lives in South Carolina!

The state considered cutting funding critical to saving women's lives in South Carolina.

The Best Chance Network (BCN) breast and cervical cancer screening program and the Medicaid Treatment program lost critical funding. Without these programs, thousands of women would go without access to vital early detection services and necessary treatment.
