California: Lobby Day, February 11, 2009

Hard work, planning, and outreach pays off as evidenced by the California Affiliates who met with more than 70 state legislative offices on Feb. 11. More than 20 Komen activists descended on the capitol in Sacramento to educate and remind legislators about the impact of Komen in California and the value of the state breast cancer screening program. Their efforts were well received by the legislators and the coordinated approach to Lobby Day also showcased the strong collaboration among our California Affiliates. And if that wasn’t news enough, the attendees were able to go to the state Senate floor where they were greeted by a “Welcome Susan G. Komen for the Cure” sign in bright lights behind the dais.
