On Feb. 4 nearly 40 Affiliate members, grantees and volunteers were in full force at the Texas State Capitol. Our activists attended close to 100 meetings where they discussed funding for the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas and potential cuts to the state screening program. Rep. Patrick Rose, 2008 Komen State Legislator of the Year, hosted a breakfast reception in honor of Komen in the Member’s Lounge. Legislators and staff mingled with their Affiliates and no one left the room without a pink ribbon! Following the reception, a Komen Resolution was read on the House and Senate floors while Affiliates watched from the gallery.
